The roof top of the Salt Palace will soon be replaced with about 600,000 square feet of solar panels. "It's approximately 25 percent of the power the Salt Palace uses will be replaced with the power generated by the solar panels," said Jeff Altman. Mayor Peter Corroon said the project will essentially "break even" in costs but the energy efficiency savings will be about $175,000 per year.
